Arrábida is known for its natural beauty, from lush vineyards to towering mountains meeting the sea. Experience some of the best Portuguese wine and views a short drive from Lisbon.
As we leave the city, admire the Tagus river while crossing the Ponte Vasco da Gama, one of Europe’s longest bridges. Our first stop is Castelo de Palmela, where we ascend the castle tower for amazing photo opportunities. On to the Arrábida wine region, we pass cork and olive groves. You will be taken to a family-owned vineyard where you can taste local wines.
Next, a scenic drive through Arrábida Natural Park, with a stop at the park’s highest point offering breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean and Portinho da Arrábida beach. Then, lunch in the picturesque fishing village of Sesimbra and the chance to relax on the beach.
Continuing the tour, we head to the one of the most well-known wine cellars in Portugal within the village of Azeitão, a winery that has remained in the hands of the same family since the early 1800s. This winery is now one of the main national wine producers. Enjoy a guided tour of the winery and enjoy tastings of Moscatel and a house red wine.
On our return to Lisbon, we stop at Cristo Rei (inspired by Rio de Janeiro’s statue of Cristo Redentor) for views over Lisbon and the river Tejo – a great place for photos to end the day!
