Douro Valley Wine Tour and Boat Full Day Trip

Sheltered from the humid Atlantic winds by the Marão and Montemuro mountains, the Douro Valley is a testament to human ingenuity harnessing the natural world to create something special. The Alto Douro Wine Region is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site as the home of Port wine, one of the most beautiful and oldest demarcated beverages in the world.

Departing from Porto, you will head east through terraced vineyards in the Vinho Verde wine region, stopping at a spectacular viewpoint before crossing one of Portugal’s largest mountains: Serra do Marão. Arriving at the first vineyard, you will learn more about winemaking, the Douro Valley’s history as a wine producing region and get a delicious tasting of local vintages (including the famous Port wine).

After, you head for sleepy Pinhão village, where you will get to experience the best of the region – but from the water! Embarking on a relaxing cruise along the Douro River, over an hour you will wind through vineyards and rolling countryside before returning to Pinhão. It’s lunchtime, so what better way to enjoy the Douro region than with a traditional Portuguese lunch and wine pairing, served in a private room in a family-owned winery. After lunch, you can take the opportunity to explore the vineyard, with the owners happy to share its history.
