This alternative way is perfect for people who don’t have the time to walk the 100 km required to get a Compostela.

  • To be eligible, people have to provide evidence to the Pilgrim Office that proves that they have walked 25 km in their home country.
  • For people living in A Coruna, if they walk the Camino for spiritual reasons they may also receive their Compostela certificate.

Some eligible Ireland and UK routes

In Ireland, you can get a Celtic Camino Compostela and go on some of the spiritual routes like the Bray Coastal Route, Boyne Valley Camino, and St Kevin’s Way. For more information, please visit the Camino Society of Ireland website.

In the UK, some of the spiritual routes that provide a pilgrim passport and stamps which would provide proof for the Pilgrim Office in Santiago are the Way of St. Andrews, the Pilgrims Way (Winchester or London to Canterbury) and St Michael’s Way (Lelant to Mazarion).

Day 2
18.61km

A CORUNA
to
SERGUDE

On your first day’s walk you will go through urban areas, a riverside park, and country roads. You leave the city through the esplanade in O Burgo town, passing by an old tide mill of Acea de Ama, before crossing the historic Roman bridge of O Burgo and passing the Church of Santiago of O Burgo. Continuing on, you will find the Roman origin church of Santiago de Sigrás, the Country Estates (El Pazo), the Camellia fountain, the historic gardens of Mariñas and the town of Carral, well known for its bread.

Day 3
13.06km

SERGUDE
to
MESON DO VENTO

Walk along quiet and peaceful rural country trails, paved roads and forest paths. Today is nice and short so you have plenty of time to appreciate the secluded beauty of nature all around before making a steep ascent to your stop for the night at Meson Do Vento, Ordes, or Bruma (depending on the availability of accommodation).

Day 4
24.7km

MESON DO VENTO
to
SIGUEIRO

Walking through the beautiful Galician countryside, today will be simple as you are mostly be heading downhill. Some of the main highlights of the day are the lovely historic Horreo you pass (a typical granary found in the northwest of Spain and Portugal), the 18th-Century Igrexa de San Paio de Buscas in A Rúa town, and the impressive colours of the forest all around you.

Day 5
16.48km

SIGUEIRO
to
SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

After crossing the Sigueiro Bridge over the Tambre River, we arrive into the municipality of Santiago. The Way continues along the river and leads to the ‘Fonte do Ingles’ (The English Fountain). You soon reach Meixonfrio, the site of an old inn where pilgrims and travellers would stop and rest. After passing a pre-Roman hill-fort, where, according to tradition, each passing pilgrim would lay a stone on the already existing pile, the Camino enters Santiago to reach its imposing cathedral.

Day 6

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

After breakfast, we bid you farewell. If you wish to stay in the area, we recommend that you: – Take your time and visit the magnificent historic centre of Santiago. – Continue with us along the wild Camino Fisterra (Finisterre Way), and stay overnight at the hotel in the lighthouse! – Or take a bus to Fisterra to visit the unspoilt sandy coves and beaches of the west coast. With very few tourists, you are guaranteed a very special experience. Buses depart from Santiago Bus Station at 9am and 10am. Buses return to Santiago at 4:45pm and 7pm. The journey takes 3 hours.
